Description: Lefrancois, a father of six, is a soldier. His seventh child is on the way and will be named Victory. Lefrancois cannot remember why he tied a knot in his handkerchief. Although he has received the War Cross for capturing German soldiers, all he can think about is the gap in his memory. The next day, he is hit by a shell and transported to a hospital, where he remains obsessed with his forgetfulness. A friend pays him a visit and accuses him of looking emprunté (ill-at-ease). As soon as he hears the word emprunté, his memory comes back to him: he must tell his wife to subscribe to the emprunt national (national loan). Back on his feet, he asks viewers, "Have you subscribed?"
